Remember The Edge? No need to be bar shy, this two-floor rock 'n' roll club next to the Rob Roy on George Street renewed my faith in the bar scene with a tavern full of 99-cent beer specials and a temple full of bands such as JKW and Supagloo.
Tragic when only five people show up for your shows. For supagloo, I was often one of those people. But they stuck to it. In the summer of 1999, Supagloo participated in Sound Clash '99, a light at "The Edge" of the deep, dark, dingy blow-tunnel of George Street. They glued their pop to "The Edge' and supaglooed their rock to George Street where a couple of kids just out of high school seemed least likely to stick. Dave Rowe, bass; Elliott Dicks, drums; and Ritche Perez, guitar: Supagloo lit their pop-rock lantern for the deep, dark, dingy blow-hole just in time to shine their light on me and many a tavern night before they built, inside my soul, the rock temple that they deserved. The rock god's that never were but should've been: Supagloo.
Elaine, the # 1 Supagloopie, beaded four of these works. One for myself, and one each for the three members of my favourite St. John's band at the time. I went pretty damn close to all of their shows. Boy was I dedicated. I stayed even if only five people showed up. I went for the music not for a party. I'm too people-shy for that.
